Thirty minutes from the northwest reaches of Austin, this area
encompasses the City of Lago Vista as well as outlying rural areas.
A popular lakeside resort destination in the 1950's and 1960's, Lago
Vista was incorporated in 1984. Situated on 11 miles of Lake Travis
shoreline, the 2,200 residents enjoy year round boating, fishing and
golfing. A paved, lighted 3,800 foot runway and hangar facilities can
be found at the Bar-K Airport.
Acreage tracts are available outside of the city and several very
upscale communities are in development. Among those is the 600-acre
North Shore on Lake Travis, host to the 2001 Parade of Homes. Working
with well-known architects and landscapers, home design standards have
been established and restorative landscaping techniques employed.
250 acres are devoted to parks and greenbelts. A 36-acre waterfront
park, private boat ramp and a 308-slip marina with full concierge
service are some of the features. This area is appealing to those
seeking luxury retirement and vacation properties. Convenient standard
shopping amenities are limited.
