Georgetown, 26 miles to the north of Austin, encompasses not only the city proper but outlying communities and ranches. Population 30,000, Georgetown is the fastest growing city in Williamson County.

Known for its Victorian era storefronts and numerous historic homes the downtown district has old-fashioned charm. Working in partnership with the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the city of Georgetown graduated from the Main Street Project and won the Great American Main Street Award in 1997. In preserving the original character of the older business district, this effort has promoted revitalization of the city. This area is sought after by people who are seeking larger lots, a country setting and a reasonable commute to the Dell complex in Round Rock.

The 1200-acre Lake Georgetown, in the western part of the area, serves as a recreational area for the nearby communities of Fountainwood, Georgetown Village and the golfing community of Berry Creek.

Fountainwood, a pleasant neighborhood of comfortable family homes on acreage lots, backs up to the lake. Evening strolls through the park, biking, camping and fishing add to the appeal. The smaller homes of Georgetown Village are designed to have a quaint, small town look. The elementary school and a heated pool are both situated within the community.

The established Country Club community of Berry Creek is larger and more on the elegant side. Recreational amenities include an 18-hole golf course, a 26,000 ft. full service clubhouse, tennis courts and a pool. This area appeals to younger professionals and their families. Children in the Georgetown Area attend schools in the Georgetown Independent School District.
